"Former Liberian President, Charles Taylor, is being tried by the Special Court for Sierra Leone for his alleged role in war crimes and crimes against humanity during Sierra Leone’s decade-long civil war. The Defence Team, led by Courtenay Griffiths Q.C., is looking for legal interns to work pro bono on the defence case for a period of 3-6 months, starting in September/October 2009.
Interns will have a fantastic opportunity to:
- Work on a high-profile, international case in an international setting;
- Gain training and experience of drafting important legal arguments;
- Handle disclosure in a large and complex case;
- Observe and contribute to the advocacy of accomplished members of the Bar;
- Fully engage in challenging legal issues as a part of a dynamic legal team; and
- Live and work in an international legal and business environment.
Applicants should be committed, hard-working individuals with a strong academic background, solid legal research and analytical skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Preference will be given to candidates who have been Called to the Bar. Post-graduate law students and or applicants with international political or foreign relations experience are invited to apply.
